"Ector County"; Organized January 19, 1891, named in honor of 'Matthew Duncan Ector', member of the Texas Legislature, A Confederate Officer, and Outstanding Jurist.
Odessa is the County Seat.
This Historical Marker created in 1936, Texas Highway Department; located
East Of Newell Road on Service Road South Of Memorial Gardens on Highway
80.
First location in 1936, was 1919 East Second Street, just
west of Grandview Avenue.
