"Vehicles lined up at the depot. Odessa families waiting for train with world
war I Veterans returning home after the war."
Not only did the end of WWI reunite
soldiers with their families but it also brought home the Wilson brothers, who
up until then had been Odessa's only permanent doctors. When they enlisted in
1917, medical care fell to family members or professionals brought in
specifically to fight the flu epidemic.
Many historical events in Odessa revolved around the Texas & Pacific train
depot.
