The east side of the 200 block of North Grant. 1945.
This Photograph was taken the year after Chick Fair opened the Diamond Shop. He has stayed in business into the 90s, though he describes himself "as the only Republican who would admit it in 1938." He was appointed Republican party chairman for Ector County and served 16 years in the position. His efforts were rewarded when President Eisenhower appointed Mr. Fair Odessa Postmaster in 1954.
Serving the customer with reliable service is what business is all about. Mr. Sam Lichenstein, who did business across the street from the Diamond Shop for over 17 years once said, " I have never seen him open late."
